Family Mediation
Our Reconnect schemes help rebuild relationships by providing a fully trained mediator who can listen to the concerns of young people and their families in confidence, and encourage them to get back in touch.
The project works with families at a number of different stages to encourage family cohesion so that young people can receive the support they need.
This might involve helping them to write a letter or make a phone call, or setting up a family meeting in a neutral location. If a young person does opt to return home, Reconnect provides ongoing support to try and avoid communications breaking down again in the future and helps to break the cycle of homelessness.
We currently have Reconnect schemes based in London, Kent, Rochester, Manchester and Oldham.
Our family mediation research is also featured in London Metropolitan University's report on Early Intervention into Homelessness. Download the report here.
