Aldo House, Bradford

This project provides temporary accommodation for up to two years for eight young people aged 16-25 who are in housing crisis. The project provides 24 hour high level support and houses some of the most difficult to place young people who have multiple and complex needs. These needs may include a history of offending, substance and/or alcohol abuse and mental health problems. The project helps residents to develop life skills, social skills and access training and education.  Residents are also helped with resettlement into their own accommodation with ongoing support.  Residents are allocated a keyworker when they move in and are given weekly keywork sessions.  Regular sessions are held in house for residents including drug talks, cooking sessions and sewing sessions.  Seasonal activites are also held for cultural and celebratory events.  Aldo House is more like a family home than a hostel full of strangers.

Floating Support, Bradford

This service offers support to young people aged 16-30 in the transition from supported accommodation to their own tenancy. Up to 12 young people can be supported in the community at any one time.  As with residents of Aldo House, the young person is allocated a keyworker and contact is made weekly by either visit or telephone.  Many young people using the service have not had their own tenancy before so help is given to develop independent living skills, until support is no longer required.
